Veolia’s Rod Naylor on Creating Shared Value Through Better Management

IMG_2514

The COO Leaders were very honoured to have Veolia as our primary gold sponsor and welcomed General Manager, Rod Naylor as a speaker.  Veolia is a leading provider of environmental solutions to the mining industry across water, waste management, facilities maintenance and industrial cleaning. Veolia assists those in the mining sector to improve environmental footprints and operational efficiencies. Working with some of Australia’s leading companies such as, Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton, Veolia is adamant in adhering to the highest levels of safety and mining standards.

Rod spoke on the many pressures that are being acutely felt by the Australian resources sector. The session focused on turning water and waste management from a cost item, to a valued driver in financial benefits. General Manager – Business Development, for Veolia, Rod examined strategic and collaborative case studies built on shared value creation between global resources and environmental organisations. This was placed in contrast to a more conventional buyer-seller relationship, where strategic collaborations are built around joint project teams. Joint project teams allow the implementation of value creation opportunities, fully leveraging the unique knowledge and experience of both partners. It was a thought-provoking presentation that outlined the collaboration model which consists of five distinct value creation levers.
