    Opening the Annual Security Leaders Summit is Joe Franzi from the Department of Immigration and Border Control

    The Security leaders Summit was proud to present Joe Franzi, First Assistant Secretary Identity & Biometrics Division for the Department of Immigration & Border Control. Joe joined the Department of Immigration & Border Control this year after a promotion from the Senior Executive Service Level Two, to head up the Identity and Biometrics Division. He had a short secondment to the National Security College (NSC) as Director, Executive & Professional Development from January 2016, after a career working in various parts of the national security community. Before his NSC secondment , Joe was Assistant Secretary Cyber Security at the Australian Signals Directorate, which included leading the principle Defence contribution to the new Australian Cyber Security Centre.

     

    During this presentation, Joe discussed the increasingly complex security challenges associated with Australia’s border and the ways in which the Department of immigration and Border Protection is strengthening security, including the importance of industry collaboration.

     

    Joe’s career has included extensive experience in intelligence & security domains with over 38 years service within the Defence portfolio. Joe has held a diverse array of positions covering intelligence, analysis, collection, training and cyber fields. Joe was promoted to the Senior Executive Service in 2007 and was the first civilian Director-General Support to Military Operations, leading all Australian Signals Directorate support to Australian Defence Force and Coalition Force operations.
