Patrick Bourke, MD, Southern Cross Protection Talks, Using Security Convergence to Create A Resilient Enterprise
Patrick Bourke, Managing Director of Southern Cross Protection talks about using security convergence to create a resilient enterprise. Patrick spoke on the connection of IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational Technology), the two create many opportunities to better operational effectiveness, deliver real-time information to the enterprise and accelerate the supply chain. However, Patrick also highlighted the downside of all these new benefits. IT and OT, together bring to light new vulnerabilities and expose new methods of being compromised by internal or external threat factors. Instead, Patrick emphasised that security solutions must be developed to enable companies to continue to streamline their operations, while protecting the most vital operating assets from complex internal or external threats. Altogether, Patrick explored the interoperability of Physical, Cyber and OT security to create a resilient enterprise.
Patrick is a qualified Chartered Accountant graduating in Finance and Accounting from the University of NSW. After several years with KPMG he moved into initially the travel industry with global technology booking company, Galileo. He joined TNT in the late 1990’s whilst completing a Masters in Marketing. At TNT he formed the TNT Sameday business unit and held Regional Director positions before leaving to commence his own management consulting practice which later diversified to provide comprehensive outsourced services to the Human Resources and Recruiting Industries as Ayers Management Pty Ltd. After guiding Chubb through a series of spin offs, he founded Southern Cross Protection an integrated risk and security solutions company protecting 10,000 SME’s and some of the nations largest companies through a workforce of over 1300 employees and contractors.
Southern Cross Protection is the only truly integrated provider of security service in Australia. Enterprise wide resilience can only be achieved when all elements of physical and data security are integrated via a comprehensive and well executed plan based on real vulnerabilities and applying risk treatment.
