A topnotch speaker, Rangam Bir talked about the “Case for Strategic Transformation in Information Technology” for the opening keynote presentation at the CIO Leaders Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where the best minds in IT gathered to engage and collaborate. Organized by Media Corp International, the annual CIO Leaders Summit is the foremost gathering of CIOs in Malaysia.

 

Presented in this session is a perspective explaining why companies in all industries are currently going through a crucial transformation in their respective business models. More often than not, these companies create new business models that blend both digital and physical seamlessly to achieve innovation and customer satisfaction. However, in order to achieve strategic digital transformation, it will demand transformation on multiple fronts.

 

From a CEO’s viewpoint, Rangam shared his thoughts and views on how these new organisational models can come into play in order to capture the desired innovation through partnerships and strategic alliances. In this digital era, the real challenge for companies is to deliver customer focused innovation while transforming traditional business models that have been applied by various industries. This is where he started discussing how information technology plays a significant role in this transformation while rethinking and considering conventional delivery approaches in the strategy. Part of his areas of focus was the renumeration of reasons why some major industries including financial services are currently facing disruptions which are pushing many to seek transformations to create new markets and opportunities. He also highlighted the new landscape of Fintech and Insurtech and added that from tradition to innovation, insurers have started to ramp up investments in insurtech. The other part of his presentation focused on the changing role of IT within the organisation to create impact. In conclusion, Rangam told the summit delegates that it is important to innovate to stay relevant in this highly competitive environment.

 

Rangam Bir is a former CEO of Allianz Life Assurance Malaysia Berhad with over 15 years of experience in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Given his vast experience in the across various regions, summit delegates were able to walk away with valuable and fresh insights and key strategies from this opening keynote presentation.

 

Rangam holds a Master of Management Studies, Finance and Marketing from the University of Mumbai.
