Closing the CIO Leaders Summit, Derek Ariss on Committing to Sustainable Innovation
Closing the CIO Leaders Summit Hong Kong, is Derek Ariss, Former Head of Innovation for Lendlease. Derek engaged the audience with an interactive, workshop style presentation on today’s need for innovation. Drawing from his experience at LendLease, Derek highlighted how construction and development companies are instrumental in shaping cities such as Sydney, London and Kuala Lumpar.
Derek will discussed one Innovation Journey from ground zero—highlighting the development of an innovation culture and how innovation can permeate across in Sustainability, Retail, Construction and Business Networks across businesses. From that he demonstrated how any organisation can quickly start on the Innovation Journey and get results. Once describing the Journey, and providing real innovations, incremental and disruptive Derek then conducted a 15 minute idea generation workshop showing how industry sectors can walk away with ideas that are relevant to their industry. Attendees walked away with a new perspective and a few idea generating tools to add to their existing Innovation Toolkit.
Derek was appointed Head of Innovation for Lendlease Asia in 2013, and was based in Singapore. As Head of Innovation for Lend Lease in Asia, Derek was responsible for:
– the design of processes to deliver improved Lend Lease products and systems,
– nurturing a culture of innovation for Lend Lease in Asia,
– developing productive network relationships with organisations that share Lend Lease’s position on innovation and growth
Prior to his role at LendLease, Derek was also Head of Retail Operations, Asia overseeing all retail assets Lend Lease manages across the region and possesses vast experience in property management, marketing and general management. Derek’s extensive and broad experience in all things Innovation was extremely valuable to all attendees of IT Leaders.
