Robert Emery

Dr. Robert Emery is the Vice President for Safety, Health, Environment & Risk Management for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and Professor of Occupational Health at the University of Texas School of Public Health.

Bob has over 40 years of experience in health & safety and holds master’s degrees in health physics and environmental sciences, and a doctorate in occupational health. He is responsible for the health and safety of over 17,000 students, faculty, and staff in classrooms, laboratories, offices, and clinical care settings spread over an area equal to the size of the State of Connecticut – as well as regional campuses located across the State of Texas

Bob is also unique in that he possesses national board certification and registration in seven main areas of health & safety, and has extensive media experience.

James Boykins

James is an accomplished Safety Professional with over 17 years of experience. He has worked on both OSHA and MSHA job sites, civil construction, industrial construction, plant operations, overhead transmission and distribution, substation construction, and warehouse/manufacturing.

He has been instrumental in bridging current industry practices with modern technology. Throughout his career, he has focused primarily on continuous process improvement and behavior based initiatives. He can best be described as a motivated team player and an energetic thinker with an unique ability to make things happen.

James is also a proud former U.S. Marine Corps Officer (Captain) and Afghanistan War veteran.

Yasser Rady

Yasser has been in the HSE field for the past 17 years, spanning Active Duty service in the US Navy, and working for and with global industry leaders across western Europe and North America across Managed Services, Heavy Industrial Manufacturing, and Supply Chain (Warehousing, Distribution, and Logistics). Yasser’s passion lies in building programs and Safety Management Systems with a focus on applying cutting edge Adult Learning psychology and change management methodologies to hone in on the most important influencing factors for those impacted by safety to make it as personal and useful to them as possible.

Vanessa Galvin is a bilingual, bicultural safety professional and servant leader with over two decades of hands-on experience spanning food and industrial manufacturing, agriculture, warehousing, construction, refrigeration, retail, and port operations. Far from a desk-only leader, Vanessa is known for immersing herself fully in the environments she supports—operating forklifts, tractors, scissor lifts, refrigeration systems, and more—to truly understand the daily realities of frontline workers before implementing change. Her mission is to transform individuals into risk-competent decision makers and empower every employee to become a catalyst for positive change.

Carol Miwa

Over 23 years of solid experience in Occupational Health & Safety, Environment, Quality, Sustainability, Social Responsibility, and Community Relations management and as auditor in numerous public and private infrastructure projects and manufacturing industry including international airport, multi-sport arena, wastewater and water treatment plant, highway, subway and diverse industry including aluminum rolling and extrusion, industrial catering, textile and testing/calibration laboratories, plastic bottle caps manufacturing, and construction quarrying facilities. Infrastructure industry projects and other sectors experience has been in Canada, USA and South America, including Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Paraguay. Certified coach leader having managed more than five diverse, multi-cultural, and global teams in the last 18 years, through advanced ability to deal appropriately and sensitively with diverse cultures which she has developed through regular work in an international setting. I am civil engineer and I hold formal education in Quality Engineering, Project Management (PMI), Occupational Health and Safety Engineering and master’s degree in Environmental Science and ENV SP designation. I am also Lead Auditor of the ISO 9001 (since 1998), ISO 14001 (including IRCA) and ISO 45001 Standards, and internal auditor of the ISO/IEC 17025 standard and BC COR.
