Darren leads Auckland Airport’s Safety & Risk function, overseeing Operational Risk and Assurance, Occupational Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Enterprise Risk Management, and Emergency Planning. In this role he enables the safe delivery and risk management of the airport’s ongoing aviation and infrastructure transformation programmes. With over 30 years of experience, Darren has worked across the aviation, infrastructure, and construction industries. Before joining Auckland Airport, he spent nine years as General Manager of Safety & Aviation Medicine at Air New Zealand, where he led a successful transformation of the airline’s safety systems, earning national awards. Darren has also held senior safety and risk roles globally, supporting major infrastructure projects in Australia, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, including in remote and hostile environments.
