Georgie Harman, CEO,\u00a0beyondblue\u00a0provided the Opening Keynote Presentation on, “Heads Up \u2013 Improving Workplace Mental Health In Australia” at the 5th Annual EHS Leaders Summit.<\/p>\n

Georgie began this presentation by highlighting that today, approximately 3 million people in Australia are living with depression and\/or anxiety. She\u00a0spoke on\u00a0the progress of the beyondblue, Heads Up initiative in which she presented 12 months ago at the 2015 EHS Leaders Summit and shared the growth, impact and evolution of\u00a0\u00a0this initiative. During this presentation, Georgie spoke on the importance of having a mentally healthy workplace and why this is so pertinent to Australian business and how business leaders can use Heads Up to enhance their organisation\u2019s workplace mental health strategy by sharing real life case studies, including LendLease and Jetstar.<\/p>\n

Heads Up is an initiative developed by beyondblue in collaboration with the Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance, a tri-partite collaboration between business, government and the mental health sector. Heads Up aims to highlight the benefits of creating mentally healthy workplaces and to assist individuals and organisations to take action. Georgie Harman was appointed CEO of beyondblue in May 2014.\u00a0Previously, Georgie was Deputy CEO at the National Mental Health Commission, and from 2006-2012, worked at the Commonwealth Department of Health where she had national responsibility for Australian mental health, suicide prevention and substance misuse policy and programs.<\/p>\n

From 2003-2006 she was a member of the executive team at the Northern Territory Department of Health and Community Services.<\/p>\n

Ms Harman has also worked in the community sector and in private enterprise. She came to Australia in 1999 to be the inaugural Executive Director for the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation in Sydney \u2013 Australia\u2019s first and largest independent HIV\/AIDS charity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
