Deputy, Chief Operations Officer, Global Health
Kenya Casey is the new Deputy Chief Operations Officer (DCOO) for the Task Force for Global Health. As the DCOO, Ms. Casey provides business and operational support to the organization and its programs. She participates in defining the strategic vision/goals and makes executive operational decisions for the organization. Ms. Casey also works with the COO to develop organizational objectives that align with the business strategy specifically in the areas of compliance, IT, Finance, HR, communications and development, travel safety and facility Services.
Recently, Ms. Casey served as the Director of Global Safety and Security at Emory University, where she focused on enhancing support for the health, safety, and security of Emory students and employees during international travel. She led university-wide initiatives to improve guidance and assistance related to travel health, safety, and security, both before and after travel engagements.
Ms. Casey held the role of Senior Associate Director of Overseas Operations for The Carter Center Health Programs for seven years. In this capacity, she managed daily operations at the Health Programs headquarters, overseeing five program areas and eleven field offices. She also served as a senior advisor on the security of international staff and travelers associated with The Carter Center.
Ms. Casey earned her B.A. in Psychology from Clark Atlanta University and her Master’s degree in Social Work from Howard University. She is also a recipient of the Fulbright Korea International Educators Administration program. During her undergraduate studies, Kenya studied abroad in Ghana, and during graduate school, volunteered in Ethiopia. Following graduate school, she spent two years in Jamaica, where she worked on an adolescent reproductive health project. Ms. Casey has pursued a mission-driven career that has afforded her opportunities to travel extensively around the world. She is also a certified Workplace Mindfulness Facilitator, leading monthly meditations for The Carter Center staff, both domestic and international.
