Scott Mellis

Team Leader Cybercrime Operations, Australian Federal Police

Federal Agent Scott Mellis is the Australian Federal Police Cybercrime Operations Team Leader in Melbourne.

Scott commenced in AFP cybercrime (then called Computer Crime) in 1995. Since then, he has completed four separate postings to AFP Cybercrime spanning a 20 year period.

Scott was formerly in charge of Cybercrime Intelligence in the Australian High Tech Crime Centre in Canberra between 2004 and 2008. In 2013, Scott completed a posting to the National Cyber Forensics and Training Alliance in Pittsburgh, USA and in 2016 was appointed as the AFPs inaugural Cybercrime Liaison Officer to London, a position he held for four years.

Scott’s work has included leading teams investigating complex transnational cybercrime, providing cybercrime intelligence at both a tactical and strategic level and developing and maintaining strong strategic relationships with government, law enforcement and the IT industry globally.

In 2022, Scott was awarded a Queens Birthday Honour (Australian Police Medal) for his services to Cybercrime Operations in the AFP.
